When I was a little girl I was always asked ‘who do you want to be’ not ‘how do you want to bloom?’

 

How do you want to move through life? with grace and wisdom when you walk in the room?

 

Was it Curious and Charismatic? and knowing what my boundaries are?

 

Was it marriage at 28, kids by 30? but what happened when I got that far?

 

The future never looked further, as I was never asked,

 

I wasn’t taught how to create the safe home within myself only walls built from trauma that had past,

 

Who was I willing to open the door of my home? but that which is different when opened within my heart? 

 

I’ll let you in on a secret, a place I wish I could rewind to and start,

 

All you need to be is you, your own definition of success, 

 

Deep in the pit of your soul where there’s peace, love and time to rest,

 

The place where you stop to admire the mountains that you’ve climbed throughout your years,

 

To stop, to look behind, take in the view and reflect on those past fears,

 

Were you so focused to reach the top? Has that moment passed you by?

 

I’ll tell you now, it's never too late to spread those golden wings and fly.

 

So for anyone who is struggling, thinking that you’ve been left behind,

 

You’ll be forever blooming, like sunflowers blossoming in your mind.

 

There is nothing in this world that needs adding, you have nothing left to prove,

 

Just your presence in its glory, dancing gracefully when the wind moves.

 

As I reflect looking at my life now, I know the little girl inside of me would say,

 

I’m proud of you, 

 

you are enough, 

 

yesterday, 

 

tomorrow,

 

and every single day.
